What officially changes in 2027?

The clearest change is the qualification framework and subject code. In 2026, the subject is Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level Computing 7155. From 2027, it is assessed under the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) as G3 Computing K349.

What stays broadly familiar?

The subject remains a combination of computing knowledge and practical problem solving. Students still need to understand computing fundamentals, write and reason about Python programs, work with spreadsheets, understand networks, and consider the impact of computing.

Is the practical exam still there?

Yes. K349 has a two-hour written Paper 1 worth 60% and a 2 hour 30 minute lab-based Paper 2 worth 40%. Paper 2 assesses Algorithms & Programming and Spreadsheets using a computer with spreadsheet software, Python and JupyterLab.

Does my child need a different programming language?

No. Python remains the programming language specified in K349.
